Study and Research in Artificial Intelligence
We have developed a number of degrees that cover the different aspects of Artificial Intelligence and bring together our research and expertise within the department.
At undergraduate level, we offer a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (Honours) specialising in Artificial Intelligence (BSc IT (Hons) AI). This course is tailored for students who want to enter the ICT industry but at the same time study about the latest technologies in the AI industry. It will also serve as a good basis for those who want to further their studies at postgraduate level.
At postgraduate level, we offer two programmes. The first is our popular Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence (MSc AI), which includes a taught component but is mainly delivered through research. In this programme, students are exposed to different research areas that are particularly relevant to industry, both local and international. It covers several research streams including Creative Technologies, Automation, Fintech and Big Data.
The second is an international Erasmus Mundus Master of Science in Human Language Science and Technology (MSc HLST). This is a dual masters programme through which students spend one year in Malta and another year in one of our partner universities. Upon successful completion of the programme, students are awarded two Masters degrees from the two institutions where they carried out their studies.
Finally, we also offer the possibility for students to carry out research in any of our streams at doctorate level (PhD). Undertaking such a degree is the pinnacle in academia and focuses on a particular research area according to the candidate’s interests.
